Star Wars links
Star Wars has been my favorite movie since I first saw it. I was only 3 years old when Return of the Jedi was in theaters. My parents took me to see it then, but I gather I didn’t much follow the story. I did pick up enough of it to demand the action figures though. When the special edition released in theaters a few years back I took off work to make sure I got to see it. It was nice getting there early, as I walked out of the theater the line had reached out the door and partway around the theater.
Its safe to say I’m a fan of the movies. At least the original three, the prequels I don’t like quite as much. They are good action movies I guess, but they aren’t nearly as good as the originals. Anyway, this isn’t about the movies. Just links to a bunch of Star Wars stuff on the internet I find amusing or interesting.
My favorite reviews of those films are probably the ones in The Editing Room (The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith).
Another interesting article was Shamus Young’s take on what A New Hope would be like if it was done today with all the abuse stories take to make them more marketable. Its an older post, but still pretty entertaining. When compared to recent action and sci-fi movies, it seems frighteningly true.
Gotta include a few videos in the list. First is Darth Vader being a jerk. A remix of the scene where the star destroys approached Hoth in Empire Strikes Back.
Then there is Troops, a Star Wars parody on the Cops TV show. It offers the real story on how the Jawa sandcrawler was destroyed and Luke’s aunt and uncle died in A New Hope, Ben was way off.
